Where SHIROKAI Began
Starting in 2019, a team of industry professionals wanted recognizable design and a new way to reimagine automotive styling — accurate but aggressive widebody kits with fewer compromises than serial car designers face. The first car we wanted to play with was the 2005–2009 Mustang; its bandit fascia gave a strong homage to the classic 60s models. Inspired by Mad Max and DTM, we kept a street-fighter look while following the stock lines. Using ten years of experience, 3D scanning, and CAD engineering for precision fitment — that’s when we grew into a community instead of just another online shop. The SHIROKAI Army was born.

Built for Street & Show
Each component follows the factory body lines closely, with minimal gaps when fitted correctly and smooth edges that reduce prep work. Wrap it from the box (light sanding + primer for paint). Built to handle the demands of both street and track — a complete visual transformation for owners chasing that bold 05 Mustang wide body attitude.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this kit work on my Mustang Convertible?
Partially. The flares, side skirts, lip, and bumper endings all fit a 2005–2009 Convertible identically to the Coupe. However, the ducktail spoiler is excluded — Convertibles use a different trunk lid geometry that the spoiler doesn't match. Convertible owners typically order the kit without the ducktail spoiler option at checkout.
What about Shelby GT500 fitment (2007–2009)?
The GT500 uses a different front bumper than the standard GT. The kit fits with minor front bumper modifications — typically light trim work to mate the bumper endings cleanly with the flares. A competent body shop handles this in 1–2 extra hours during install. All other panels (flares, skirts, spoiler) fit identically to the GT.
Is this kit different from the 2010–2014 S197 kit?
Yes. The 2010–2014 facelift Mustang has different front bumper and front fender geometry, so it uses a separate kit. The 2005–2009 kit you're looking at is engineered specifically for the pre-facelift S197 body. If you have a 2010–2014, see our 2013–2014 S197 widebody kit.
How long does installation take?
Typical body shop install runs 12 to 16 hours including test fit, drilling, and rivnut setup. The install requires drilling holes in the fender for rivnut-mounted flares — this is standard procedure for properly secured aftermarket widebody and shouldn't be attempted without the right tools. We provide a step-by-step install guide on our blog as a reference.
Will my doors still open with the flares installed?
Yes. The flares follow the factory door cutline. Both doors remain fully operable at any opening angle. The kit does not interfere with door handles, mirrors, or fuel filler door operation.
What wheel and tire setup works with this kit?
240 mm of total added width supports significantly wider wheel and tire setups than stock — typically 18x11 or 19x11 wheels with 295–315 mm tires in the rear, and 18x10 or 19x10 with 275–285 mm tires up front depending on offset preference. Use our Widebody Wheel Fitment Calculator for precise sizing tailored to this kit.
Why is this priced lower than the 2013–2014 kit?
The 2005–2009 kit was our original widebody design from 2019 — manufacturing tooling has been amortized over years of production, and we pass that cost difference through to the price. Quality of ABS, manufacturing process, and fitment standards are identical to our current generation kits. You're getting the same engineering at our most accessible price point.
